Do I have to pay a fee to participate in the RBC Rewards program?
The Rewards program is free for basic RBC Rewards clients. However, Signature Rewards Plus clients will pay an annual fee of $75 for 50% increased point earning power and valuable redemption options. Customers with the Platinum RBC Rewards Plus product will continue to pay $55 for the card, however, this product is no longer available for new clients. There is no additional charge to participate in the Rewards program for Rewards Plus clients.
2.
How do I earn points?
RBC Rewards clients will automatically earn points for every dollar spent on RBC Bank credit cards. You don’t have to do anything differently to qualify for these points. There is no limit to the number of points that you are able to earn! In the RBC Rewards Program, Rewards Plus clients will earn 1.5 points for every net dollar (gross retail purchases less any returns or credits) you charge; and all other credit card Rewards clients will earn 1 point for each net dollar you charge. Cash advances, convenience checks, balance transfers, purchased points, unauthorized charges, lottery tickets, credits for returned merchandise, travelers checks from a non-financial institution, foreign currency, bail bonds, debit cancellation charges, finance charges, and fees of any kind such as late fees, over limit fees, or annual fees are excluded. Points earned for refused charges will be reversed.
3.
Will my points expire?
Yes, all points have a maximum three (3)-year term, and expire at the end of three (3) years, based on first in/first out (FIFO) principles. Base and bonus points will have the same three (3)-year expiration term. Points expiring during the year will be cleared from your account on the last day of the month in which the points expire. For example, points earned on November 5, 2012 will expire on November 30, 2015.

All points earned prior to February 17, 2012 will also retain their original three (3) year expiration date.
4.
Will my points print on my monthly statement?
Your monthly credit card statement will include the RBC Rewards Summary, which displays your credit card account points balance and your pooled points balance (if applicable) as of the date listed in the summary. You can view your points and other valuable information on the program Web site 24/7/365. The program Web site address is: rbcbankrewards.com. Additionally, you can contact a Customer Service Representative at 1-877-521-2035 between the hours of 8:00 am to 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday; and 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, Saturday and Sunday.

You will not be able to view individual credit card transactions for any member of the pool besides yourself.
8.
What types of rewards are available?
RBC Rewards offers a wide variety of rewards including free and discounted travel (airline tickets, car rentals, hotel stays, and tour packages), merchandise from top brands, cash-back credits and gift cards issued by both U.S. and Canadian retailers. RBC Rewards also offers some eCertificates that will be delivered via program email. Visit the program Web site at rbcbankrewards.com for a complete listing of all of the rewards that the program has to offer.
9.
What is the value of Cash-back Rewards and how do I get my points converted to cash?

Cash-back Credit Rewards have a face-value of 1% for Platinum customer redemptions and a face value of 1.25% for Signature customer redemptions. Credits are applied directly to your RBC Bank credit card account and are normally applied to your account within 72 hours. The Cash-back Credit Reward is based on the number of Points available to redeem in your RBC Rewards Account and will follow the posted RBC Rewards Redemption Chart available at rbcbankrewards.com. All Points will be immediately deducted from your available Points Balance.

10.
Why do customers with a Signature product have access to different Redemptions options than Platinum customers?

Customers with a Signature Rewards Plus product pay a higher annual fee than Platinum Rewards Plus customers and as a result have access to more robust and valuable redemptions options; including Cash-back at a value of 1.25%. If you are an existing client and you are interested in upgrading to a Signature product please call us at 1-888-257-6837.

If you are a new client to RBC Bank and would like to apply for a new Signature card, please call 1-800-ROYAL-5-3 (1-800-769-2553). RBC Wealth Management customers please call 888-243-7397.

11.
Do I have to earn a lot of points to see the benefit of the RBC Rewards program?

Absolutely not. We have many clients that love to redeem their points right away for rewards. Rewards start at 1,500 points.

12.
When can I redeem my points for a reward?

As soon as the points show up in your account you can use them to redeem rewards. Points will be calculated Tuesday through Saturday, except holidays, and will post two business days after receiving transaction data. Points earned on all other days will post within 72 hours.

13.
How long will it take to earn enough points to redeem for rewards?

This is dependent on the reward that you are interested in. We have a wide variety of rewards including travel options, gift cards, unique experiences, merchandise and more. Rewards begin at 1,500 points. Don’t forget, you earn 1.5 points for every net retail dollar you spend with your Visa RBC Rewards Plus account; 1 point for every dollar you spend on your Visa Rewards credit card so your points can accrue quickly the more you use your RBC Rewards cards. And, if you combine your accounts with other friends and family members, you’ll earn points even faster. Although, it’s important to remember that when you “pool” your account with others, your points become available to everyone that is in your pool.

14.
Is there a maximum amount of points that I can earn in a year?

No. There is no limit to the number of points that you can earn. The more you spend, the more you earn!

15.
What type of travel rewards do you offer?
RBC Rewards offers the most innovative travel rewards available in any rewards program! We know how much our clients appreciate earning a travel reward that isn't filled with restrictions, capacity controls and other caveats, so RBC Rewards has introduced My Way Rewards. My Way Rewards lets you choose where you want to go, when you want to travel, what travel supplier you want to book with—and better yet, you can choose any accredited Travel Agency that you would like to use. This can include online travel agencies like: Montrose Travel (1-800-434-1678; www.MontroseTravel.com), Travelocity, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels.com and more. You can also book through the airline, hotel or car rental supplier directly. Or, you can work with a traditional Travel Agency that will serve your needs. You don't have to worry about all the restrictions that many other programs offer. Simply book your airline ticket, hotel stay, car rental, cruise or tour package with your RBC Rewards credit or debit card just as you would if you were paying for the trip rather than redeeming points. Wait for the transaction to post to your RBC Bank account (normally within 72 hours). Then either go to the program Web site and click on the link for additional details and to request a “statement credit” for your trip or call a Customer Service Representative at 1-877-521-2035 to request the credit for the transaction. When using the My Way Rewards option, you can redeem points for the entire transaction or a partial amount, but keep in mind you must have enough points in your account at the time you request a statement credit.

  •  23,000 RBC Rewards points can be redeemed for a statement credit for any trip that costs between $100 - $300

Additionally, we offer Traditional Travel rewards that you can access online or by calling a Customer Service Representative. We have an online travel portal that allows you to book your trip in one step, and points will be decremented from your account immediately rather than having to call to request a statement credit. We also offer RBC Rewards clients an option to redeem points for a gift certificate in $100, $300, $500 and $1,000 denominations. Gift certificates can be redeemed for any free or discounted travel reward offered through the RBC Rewards Travel Agency partner, Montrose Travel. All travel can be booked by calling 1 (877) 434-1678.

16.
How do I cancel gift cards/certificates, merchandise or travel rewards if I change my mind?

Unfortunately, once redeemed for a reward, your gift cards/certificates/eCertificates, merchandise or travel rewards cannot be cancelled or exchanged. Because you are actually using your RBC Bank credit card for travel rewards, any changes will be subject to the restrictions, fees and penalties from the travel supplier.

17.
Are there any restrictions on the gift cards/certificates offered through the program?

Any restriction on a specific gift card/certificate/eCertificate will be included in the Program Rules. On occasion gift card merchants require an expiration date. This date will be printed on the front of the gift card/certificate and cannot be extended beyond the expiration date. The full value of the gift card/certificate must be redeemed; retailers do not provide credit or cash back for any unused balance remaining on the gift card/check. Gift cards/certificates are not replaceable if lost, stolen, destroyed, or expired. Gift cards/certificates may not be resold, are not redeemable for cash and are void if sold for cash or other consideration. Gift cards/certificates must be surrendered at redemption. Gift card/certificates are not redeemable and considered void if altered, photocopied, or reproduced. Retailers have the right to restrict usage and participation by retailer is subject to change. Due to foreign currency exchange fluctuations, gift cards issued by Canadian retailers may be offered at a different redemption value than gift cards issued by U.S. retailers and redemption values are subject to change without notice.

18.
How do I redeem my points for a reward?
There are two ways to redeem your points in the RBC Rewards program:

a. Online: At the RBC Rewards Web site. Click here to begin browsing through the rewards catalog.

b. Telephone: If you would prefer to speak with a Customer Service Representative, you can complete your redemption by calling 1-877-521-2035 and the hours of operation are between 8am to 10pm Eastern Standard, Monday through Friday; and 8am to 8pm Eastern Standard Time on Saturday and Sunday.
19.
If I start to redeem for rewards but don't complete the transaction, do I have to start over the next time I log into the RBC Rewards Web site?

No, we have created a “persistent” shopping cart function, so the next time you log in, your cart will contain the same items that you had when you were there last. The convenience will allow you to browse and shop for your rewards without having to complete the transaction all at once.

20.
Is there an additional cost if I redeem my points online?

No, there is no additional charge to redeem points online. In fact, we encourage our clients to redeem online, as it is easy, convenient and available 24/7, 365 days a year.

21.
Can I have my redemption package delivered to my P.O. Box?

Unfortunately we cannot mail rewards to a P. O. Box. Please ensure your correct address is on your profile.

22.
I moved recently. My shipping address shown on my online profile is different from my address on my credit card statement. What do I do?

Unfortunately for security purposes you are not able to change your address online or through the RBC Rewards Customer Service Representatives. You must contact RBC Bank directly for any personal changes including changing your address.

23.
When can I begin to earn points?

Actual point accumulation begins after the first retail purchase you make with your RBC Rewards credit card.

24.
I have just redeemed points for a reward. When can I expect to receive my reward?

In most cases, your gift card(s) and certificate(s) will be delivered within 2 weeks. Your eCertificate(s) will be received via program email within 72 hours of the order being placed. Your Merchandise reward will normally also be delivered within 2-3 weeks of redemption. Because most merchandise rewards ship directly from the manufacturer, some rewards can take up to 6 weeks for delivery.

25.
Is it possible to place a rush order and get expedited delivery?

Yes, we’re pleased to offer clients an opportunity to expedite delivery. The additional fees for this service can be charged to your RBC Rewards credit card or by redeeming additional RBC Rewards points.

26.
What happens if a merchandise reward is no longer available?

If a merchandise reward is no longer available, we will substitute a comparable reward of equal value. If a substitute is not available Customer Service will contact you with this information.

27.
What happens if my merchandise reward is defective?

If your reward is defective, please contact a Customer Service Representative at 1-877-521-2035 to discuss the nature of the defect within 30 days of receipt. A return authorization number is required for any type of return on defective products. You’ll also have to return the product in its original manufacturers packaging along with all parts, accessories, and paperwork. We aren’t able to return any products that have been damaged, modified or abused for replacement or credit.

28.
How can I check my point transaction?

You can either go to rbcbankrewards.com 24/7 and click on "Point Statement" to review your detailed transactions, or you may call a RBC Rewards Representative at 1-877-521-2035.

29.
When will my points show up on my Web site statement?

The points you earn for purchases using your RBC Bank credit card will be calculated Tuesday through Saturday, except on holidays, and will post two business days after your transaction. Points earned on all other days will post within 72 hours.

30.
I have a question about my RBC Rewards account. How can I get help?

Please call a RBC Rewards Client Representative at 1-877-521-2035 for all your questions on the RBC Rewards program.

31.
Can my points be pooled/combined?

One of the unique benefits of the RBC Rewards program is that cardholders may combine or “pool” the points earned from their personal credit card account(s) to earn points faster. Clients may also pool their points along with any other RBC Bank Rewards clients’ accounts. There is no limit to the number of cardholders that you can pool your account(s) with, so you can earn the rewards that you’ve always dreamed of much faster than you may have ever imagined.

This Rewards pool/householding functionality is available on all RBC Bank Rewards cards and there is no limit to the number of accounts that can be pooled and no existing relationship constraints (same last name, street number, etc) required to pool accounts. All requests for Rewards pooling, even the cardholder combining their own credit card accounts, must be invited and choose to accept to join the pool. The invitations and acceptance can be completed on the Program Web site.

Pooled members can only see their own detailed transaction history, but will see available pooled points in aggregate. (As with any joint account, combined points become property of all contributors.).

Customers with a Signature product have access to some additional gift cards, merchandise items and other redemptions options that are not available for customers with a Platinum product. When customers redeem using a pooled balance, the redemption options available are based on the product completing the redemption. Customers redeeming from a pool using a Signature product may redeem from any of the Signature redemptions options available; including Cash-back credits at a face-value of 1.25% even if the points being redeemed from the pool were earned by a Platinum cardholder.  Customers redeeming from a pool using a Platinum product may redeem from any of the Platinum redemptions options available; including Cash-back credits at a face-value of 1.00% even if the points being redeemed in the pool were earned by a Signature cardholder.

32.
How do I join a pool?

You must be invited to join a pool by another RBC Bank Rewards cardholder. An electronic invitation will be sent to you by the cardholder providing you with additional information and an option to accept or decline the invitation. If you choose to accept the invitation, you will register one of your RBC Bank Rewards cards to participate. Due to security reasons, you are only able to register one RBC Bank Rewards card per each invitation. However, once you have entered a pool, you can send an invitation to yourself to add another account to the pool.

33.
What do you mean that I can "send an invitation" to myself to join a pool?

Security is a primary concern for RBC Bank. It is with security in mind that we created additional requirements to ensure all accounts that are part of a pool are authorized individually before being combined. This means that you can add as many of your credit cards to a single pool, but you will need to send an invitation, or have another pool member send you an invitation, for each of the personal accounts that you would like to pool. While we understand this requires some additional administrative work on the part of our clients, we hope you will appreciate the added level of security that we have incorporated.

34.
If I join a pool, can I choose who is able to redeem for a reward from the members of the pool?

No, unfortunately if you choose to join a pool it is similar to you having a joint personal credit card or checking account. All points earned from all members of the pool will be combined to form one single pool. All points in the pool can be redeemed by any member of the pool without any notice to other pool members. While joining a pool is an excellent option for many of our clients, you need to be careful that you select members of the pool that you feel completely comfortable having access to the points that you have earned.

35.
Why would I join a pool if I lose control over the points that I earned?

Joining a pool will not be the right choice for all of our clients. However, many clients will love the opportunity to earn rewards even faster. By combining multiple accounts, the pool will have greater opportunity to redeem for higher point level rewards even faster. This would be an excellent option for some families. A group or extended family wanting to take a dream vacation. A community group that wants to purchase larger items for their school, church or neighborhood. An organization that is interested in redeeming to furnish a meeting room or other need. The opportunities are endless.

36.
Since points expire on a first come, first serve basis, how does that work with pooling?

Regardless of whether you are accumulating points individually or as part of a pool, all points are combined into one centralized pool for redemption. The oldest (first points that you earn) points will be the first points that are resigned when you redeem for a reward. In a pool, all points are combined regardless of who earned them. For example, if a member of the pool redeems for a gift card valued at 5,000 points, the allocation of points could potentially come from each member of the pool based on when they were originally earned (all points are date and time stamped automatically).

37.
Can I leave the pool that I am part of if I want to join another pool?

Yes, cardholders that choose to leave an RBC Rewards pool will simply request to be “unlinked” via the Program Web site. Any Rewards pool member can leave the pool at any time and without notice. If you choose to voluntarily close your entire account, you will not receive a proactive reminder to redeem your points. Once your account is closed, all your points will be surrendered and deducted from the Rewards pool. If you are not closing an account, but unlinking from the pool, you will retain your individual remaining point balance. For example, if three individuals pool their personal accounts and one client decided to leave the pool, the account is unlinked and the individual’s earned points are transferred to the individual’s new RBC Rewards personal account.

38.
How will I know if other members of my pool invite other RBC Rewards card clients to join our pool?

If you have registered your e-mail address on the Program Web site, you will receive an e-mail notification if any member of your pool invites another member to join. You may also ask a Customer Service Representative. Although you will not have an opportunity to block inviting this new pool member, you certainly can leave the pool if you are not in agreement with the decision to add a new member to your pool.

39.
What is a point transfer?

RBC Bank offers a unique redemption option which enables you to transfer some or all of the points in your RBC Rewards account/pool to another RBC Rewards account at RBC Royal Bank. The transfer may be to your own account or the account of another RBC Rewards member.

40.
Who may transfer points?

Only the Primary cardholder with the authority to redeem on the RBC Rewards accounts may transfer points. This excludes the Co-applicant and Authorized Users.

41.
How do I transfer points?

All point transfers must be completed online through the RBC Rewards Program web site at rbcbankrewards.com. You may transfer credit card points by selecting the Transfer Points tab and providing the required information to complete the transfer. You have two options for transferring points:

  1. Transfer within the RBC Bank RBC Rewards Program:
    • You may transfer some or all of the points in your RBC Rewards account/pool to another RBC Rewards account at RBC Bank. The transfer may be to your own account or the account of another RBC Rewards member at RBC Bank. You must provide the full name and 16-digit card number of the recipient RBC Rewards account at RBC Bank to complete this redemption request. You must be registered on the site and will need to log in to your account on the site to view your earned points and conduct the transfer. Points cannot be transferred using the Rewards Customer Service Call Center. However, you may contact our agents for assistance in completing the point transfer online.

  2. Transfer to your RBC Rewards Account with RBC Royal Bank of Canada:
    • You may transfer points in your RBC Bank Rewards account/pool to your RBC Rewards account at RBC Royal Bank of Canada. The transfer must be made only to your own RBC Rewards account at RBC Royal Bank of Canada. You must provide the full name and 16-digit card number of the recipient RBC Rewards account at RBC Royal Bank of Canada to complete this redemption request. You may transfer points in increments of 5,000 points up to 250,000 points per transaction, but there is no limit to the number of transfers you can make, so long as the points are available in your RBC Bank Rewards account/pool.
    • Note: Points deducted from your RBC Bank Rewards account are converted at a 50% ratio when transferred to your RBC Rewards account with RBC Royal Bank in Canada (e.g. 10,000 points from RBC Bank will be transferred to RBC Royal Bank in Canada as 5,000 points).

You must be registered on rbcbankrewards.com and will need to log in to your account on the site to view your earned points, points balance and to conduct the transfer. Points cannot be transferred using the Rewards Customer Service Call Center. However, you may contact our agents for assistance in completing the point transfer online.

42.
When will my points transfer be applied?

For point transfers within the RBC Bank RBC Rewards Program, the transfer will be remitted immediately when processed.

For point transfers to your RBC Rewards account with RBC Royal Bank of Canada, your RBC Bank RBC Rewards account will be debited immediately when processed and your RBC Royal Bank of Canada RBC Rewards account will be credited within 5 days of the transfer request.

43.
Can I transfer points using the Customer Service Call Centre agents?

This option is only available online through the RBC Rewards website, however, you may contact our agents for assistance in completing the point transfer online.

44.
Can I transfer points in my pool to another account?

Yes, similar to point redemptions, you have full access to the pool balance and you are able to transfer the points in your pool to another RBC Rewards account at RBC Bank or your own RBC Royal Bank of Canada RBC Rewards account.

45.
Can I transfer points to any RBC Rewards account?

The account/pool being debited with points must be with RBC Bank and must be open and in good standing. The recipient account may be any other RBC Bank RBC Rewards account or your own RBC Rewards account with RBC Royal Bank of Canada. You may not transfer points to a closed account.

46.
When I transfer points to another account will the expiration date on the points be reset or stay the same?

Rewards points transferred to another RBC Bank account will retain their original expiration date. Rewards points transferred to an RBC Rewards account with RBC Royal Bank of Canada will be guided by the Terms and Conditions of the RBC Royal Bank of Canada RBC Rewards Program.

47.
Can I purchase additional points to reach a reward faster?

Yes! RBC Rewards clients may purchase additional points. Points are sold in 1,000 point increments at a cost of $35 per 1,000 points, or 3.5 cents per point. Each individual client is limited to purchasing 5,000 points in a month, and no more than 25,000 points in any calendar year. Each individual member of a pool has the ability to purchase 5,000 points on a monthly basis or a total of 25,000 in a calendar year (whichever comes first).

Points can be purchased online through the Program Web site at rbcbankrewards.com, or by calling 1-877-521-2035. All points must be purchased using your RBC Bank credit card. All purchased points will be posted and available immediately upon authorization of your RBC Bank credit card transaction. Once purchased, the transaction is considered final and points cannot be refunded or exchanged. All Program Rules on the RBC Rewards program apply to points that are purchased.

48.

Do I have any insurance coverage when I travel?

As an RBC Bank credit card client you are eligible for up to $250,000 automatically against accidental bodily injuries that are the sole cause of accidental death or dismemberment while riding as a fare-paying passenger in, boarding or alighting from any aircraft, or land or water conveyance that is operated by a common carrier licensed to carry passengers for hire, provided the entire travel fare(s) has been charged directly to your RBC Bank credit card account.

If the ticket(s) has been purchased prior to departure for the terminal, coverage is provided for travel by common carrier directly to the terminal. Coverage continues after arrival at the terminal, during travel by the common carrier and immediately following your arrival at the terminal of your destination. If the ticket(s) has not been purchased prior to departure for the terminal, the above coverage begins at the time the entire travel fare(s) has been charged directly to your account. Coverage is worldwide.
